Welcome back everybody! Classes are now underway!
We have lots of fun events coming up- check our Events Page for Festival info, Yasoo Symposium info, and more!
St. Demetrios is proud of our Greek Folk Dance program. We have over 120 dancers and singers from 4 years old to adult. We hope that this web site will encourage communication between the various people, groups, and communities that share a passion for the Greek culture.
Greek Folk Dancing is integral to our Greek culture. Our program aims to teach the Greek folk traditions of dance, music, and song while maintaining the values of the Greek Orthodox faith.
Besides performing at many community events, the St. Demetrios Greek Dancers attend the annual Folk Dance Festival. Since the FDF is a dance competition, we try to put our best foot forward by researching and practicing new suites of dances from various parts of Greece in costumes from the same region.
Our annual dance symposium, Yasoo, is held every October. Here we host instructors, dance groups, and/or musicians from Greece to teach us new dances and songs from specific regions. Greek dance enthusiasts from all over the country come to Yasoo! to take the workshops, enjoy the Glendi, and share the experience.
